About Garrett
Originally from Huntington Beach, Ca., Garrett went to college in Los Angeles and New York City. Then he moved back to L.A. and worked in film, specifically for a devoutly religious real estate developer/body builder and his (the bodybuilder's) trusty sidekick, a stuntman we'll call Chavez. After all that, Garrett moved to Oakland, where he discovered burrito trucks, baseball, and music-writing, all of which he continues to have great passion for. Garrett's been doing the latter thing (music writing type stuff) for nigh on eight years, first as a freelancer, then as the music editor for SF Weekly, then at Rhapsody, where Garrett currently serves as Editor in Chief. (Rhapsody is a really neat digital music subscription service that he immodestly urges you to try out.) For most of those eight years, Mr. Kamps has lived in the indelible city of San Francisco, where he tends to an herb garden, enjoys long jogs in the rain, and serves as caretaker to a dog named Marshall, whose hilarious misadventures always fall to Garrett to clean up.
