Heart of The City Farmers Market

The Heart of the city Farmers Market began June 14, 1981. On opening day fourteen farmers sold at the market. The market has grown to an average of over 65 farmers and more than 8000 consumers on a sunny day, with gross sales over 90,000.

The Heart of the City Farmers Market has been a success in its dual purposes; to bringcheaper, fresher, and more nutritious food to the inner city area, and to provide another direct marketing outlet for smaller scale growers.
