Neighborhood: Alamo Square

Gig: Founder of KitchenSidecar and co-creator of Rice Paper Scissors

Where does everybody know your name? Golden Gate Meat Company (I just found out recently), because I'm the one who orders massive pork deliveries to a three story walk up.

What's your most embarrassing SF moment? My life is a series of would-be embarrassing moments, but finding out my diary served as the basis for many a high school students' summer reading pretty much pre-conditioned me to it all.

Why do you love your neighborhood? I can live at Mojo Bicycle Cafe and run a tab at Tim's, my corner store.

What's your secret spot in town? Anywhere I can plant a little red stool and shoot the shit.

What's your favorite San Francisco institution? Rainbow Grocery - I've found some of my greatest culinary inspirations in those cryptic jars above the bulk honey. (Nigari for making tofu! Koji for turning things to sake!)

What local merchants have you been meaning to check out? The 4505 Meats whole beef butchery class because it would blow my mind.

What's the question you wished we asked? What business do you admire? Low Bicycles, a small aluminum track frame manufacturing company in the Mission – 100% handmade in San Francisco.

If you can change one thing about San Francisco, what would it be? I wish there was a express MUNI bus that would take me from Alamo Square to Chinatown.
