wants to learn to surf before he dies
Neighborhood: Excelsior
Gig: The band, Papercuts & Panam Recording Studio
What are you up to these days? Writing songs, touring the Papercuts, recording bands, going to the beach, and imagining getting in the water.
SF is... the best but too expensive. I've found that outside the US people suspend their judgment of you as a Dirty American if they know you are from San Francisco.
Where would you have your last meal on earth? Little Star Pizza, for sure. Their cornmeal crust pizza is to die for. Let me write you a jingle in trade for pizza?
Who's your favorite quintessential local character? I just saw Kelley Stoltz at the Make-Out Room, that was quintessential San Francisco in many ways. Kelly's thing has been subtly influential. I think he seems to represent something in my mind about what is cool about the atmosphere here. Also David Enos. He's in my band already but he will eventually be recognized as a genius weirdo of our time.
Where's your go-to date place? Emmy's Spaghetti Shack is pretty great. It's close to me, you can eat or just drink, the food is amazing, massive portions, and it's super comfortable. Also a good spot for comfort gorging if you are not on a date.
What do you get obsessive about here in SF? It used to be thrift stores but they don't seem as good anymore, so maybe the sun. Sometimes you have to chase it around town though it's most often in The Mission. I need warm light as much as possible, and it really does change from neighborhood to neighborhood.
