SF is... home. There is no place like home. San Francisco is really an amazing place for me to have lived all these years - nearing 20 at this point!
Where would you have your last meal on earth? I love Blue Plate. Cory Obenour, the chef-owner, is a genius. It’s my favorite SF restaurant and has been since it opened in 1999.
Why do you love your neighborhood? I’ve been in Duboce Triangle going on 10 years this December and absolutely love it. It’s in the center of the city; walking anywhere from here is easy, it’s generally sunny, and close to everything I need. I don’t miss living in the Mission at all.
What's your favorite SF institution? It’s gotta be the Rite Spot for me. I’ve worked there for 12 years. It’s been around since the early '60s and it’s definitely an institution at this point.
What do you get obsessive about here in SF? The Giants. And I get obsessively mad when people throw out that Mark Twain quote about "the coldest winter yadda yadda." Maybe Mark Twain lived out in the Sunset or in the Marina, but I have zero complaints about the weather here.
Who's your favorite quintessential local character? John Dwyer is a genius.
