What event will we find you at in the next week? I'll be at my event called The 11.01.11 at Queen's Nails Projects. (I'll be presenting work in which I've transformed furniture objects — layering and wrapping vintage clothing around them — while maintaining the integrity of the respective originals.) I will also be celebrating Halloween early in the Castro, and then Belvedere St. with the kids, and later, I'm excited to see my friend's band, The Soft Moon at The Independent.
Where would you have your last meal on earth? Cafe Jaqueline. I've been meaning to go more often; it's been too long. Yummy souffles. It is so decadent.
Where do you get your local gossip? Friends and clients. It's probably more about music and bands coming to town. I love going to see different kinds of live music.
Why do you love your neighborhood? There's so many great things about this neighborhood. The park is amazing. I love Amoeba Music, Goodwill, Wasteland, and the folks at Haight Street Market. My husband's design studio is here and his art installation, Listen to this Wall , is on the corner of Haight and Shrader.
Where's your secret spot? We love the Fuchsia Dell in Golden Gate Park. We've had many birthday parties for our kids there and it's close to home, too. There's lots of room to run around and benches for the old people to hang out.
What's your favorite under-the-radar SF restaurant? Woodward's Garden. I've been going there since they opened, and I always have a great meal.
What's your favorite SF institution? The Turrell piece at the de Young.
