rE/visioning the Collection: New Perspectives Through Sound and Media will be presented at the de Young Museum. VOLUME commissioned eight electronic sound and media artists to “plug into” their permanent collection and create new collaborative performances by eight artists: Dave Aju, J.D. Beltran, Nate Boyce, Loren Chasse, Lucky Dragons, Seth Horvitz, Kadet Kuhne, and David Wilson. Part of the 11th Annual San Francisco Electronic Music Festival

The MORPH TRAITS exhibition will display a collection of drawings that are the result of a collaborative exercise between Kyle Ranson and Daniel Higgs. Consummated in 1991 and set aside, this back and forth practice continued intermittently over the next 14 years through brief encounters and the postal system. In 2007, the two geographically separated artists reinitiated the game and it was decided to create a volume of these works. Three years in the making, this assemblage evolved into what became known as the Morph Traits. The Morph Traits Book, published by Needles & Pens, will also be released the night of the opening. (Morph Traits is 4-color, 60 page, off-set printed book, printed in an edition of 500) Both DANIEL HIGGS & KYLE RANSON will be in attendance. There will be music!

Candystore Collective is happy to host the first party on the cross country tour of Creative, Inc., an new book by Meg Mateo Ilasco of Craft, Inc. and Anthology Magazine and Joy Deangdeelert Cho of Oh Joy! Published by Chronicle, the book is filled with great advice about becoming a freelance talent like an illustrator, animator, designer, stylist, or photographer.
