Frolicking amongst the flowers! But these ones are carnivorous... so be careful where you put your beer!
Have a night out with friends amongst the fiendish and fabulous carnivorous plants in the Conservatory of Flowers' special exhibition Chomp 2! Return of the Carnivorous Plants. San Francisco's very own jungle under glass is staying open for the 21 and older crowd on Wednesday, September 22 and offers a special evening of 'killer' entertainment.
Artists Sarah Filley and Yvette Molina, who are currently working on a plan to float a giant terrarium on Lake Merritt, bring their Mobile Plant Ambassador along -- a visual mash up of ice cream carts, nostalgic vending stands and Barnum and Bailey attractions -- and will invite a lucky handful of visitors to craft and take home their very own carnivorous plant terrariums.
Visitors can explore all of the Conservatory's galleries, create an instant souvenir in a photo booth, discover craft beer from local champs Clara Street Brewery, and more!

Cedar Sigo reads from his new collection published by City Lights Books
Stranger in Town is the much-anticipated second collection by San Francisco poet Cedar Sigo. Reflecting queer identity while eschewing clichéd aesthetics, Stranger exudes an urban mysticism redolent of the SF Renaissance—particularly John Wieners—as it collages the fragmented experience of contemporary culture. Among its highlights are the sublime long poem, "Music for Torching," written in collaboration with Nathan Berlinguette and Will Yackulic, the translation of "Villon," the biographical "Notes on Joan Crawford," and prose meditations on poetry like "The Sun" and "The Emerald Tablet."
"It's a pleasure to curl up with and be challenged by [Sigo's poetry], driven to push one's living further. In this new century, there is without doubt further territory for poetry to enter into, and Sigo embraces what is currently available and holds out an offering for the future."
