The MORPH TRAITS exhibition will display a collection of drawings that are the result of a collaborative exercise between Kyle Ranson and Daniel Higgs. Consummated in 1991 and set aside, this back and forth practice continued intermittently over the next 14 years through brief encounters and the postal system. In 2007, the two geographically separated artists reinitiated the game and it was decided to create a volume of these works. Three years in the making, this assemblage evolved into what became known as the Morph Traits. The Morph Traits Book, published by Needles & Pens, will also be released the night of the opening. (Morph Traits is 4-color, 60 page, off-set printed book, printed in an edition of 500) Both DANIEL HIGGS & KYLE RANSON will be in attendance. There will be music!

The resulting five installations make use of cutting-edge audio technology developed at ICST Zurich to propose very diverse solutions. Cedar Sigo reads from his new collection published by City Lights Books Stranger in Town is the much-anticipated second collection by San Francisco poet Cedar Sigo. Reflecting queer identity while eschewing clichéd aesthetics, Stranger exudes an urban mysticism redolent of the SF Renaissance—particularly John Wieners—as it collages the fragmented experience of contemporary culture. Among its highlights are the sublime long poem, "Music for Torching," written in collaboration with Nathan Berlinguette and Will Yackulic, the translation of "Villon," the biographical "Notes on Joan Crawford," and prose meditations on poetry like "The Sun" and "The Emerald Tablet." "It's a pleasure to curl up with and be challenged by [Sigo's poetry], driven to push one's living further. In this new century, there is without doubt further territory for poetry to enter into, and Sigo embraces what is currently available and holds out an offering for the future." —Patrick Dunagan

This local rarely makes public appearances. In his new book, American Taliban, he pulls out the big guns against the American conservative movement. Quoting pundits and politicians, pointing to polls and news, Zuniga makes a litany of charges claiming that the entire conservative movement in America is comparable to the U.S.’s international enemy #1 – Islamic radicalism. Does he go too far? Does he make some valid points and observations? Decide for yourself. Come see a candid, no-holds-barred interview with the founder of the popular online blog Daily Kos and frequent contributor for Newsweek and MSNBC. Location: The Commonwealth Club, 595 Market Street, 2nd Floor Time: 6 p.m. check-in, 6:30 p.m. program, 7:30 p.m. reception Tickets: Free for members, $20 for non-members INFORUM is a division of The Commonwealth Club for people in their 20s and 30s.
